CREATING A CIRCULAR ECONOMY FOR PLASTIC WASTE

We’ve created a circular economy to re-purpose plastic waste

Recycling Solutions for the Plastic Waste Problem

Advanced Drainage Systems recycles over half a billion pounds of plastic made of everyday household items like shampoo and laundry detergent bottles, medicine bottles, bottle caps and even carpet. This recycled plastic is then used in our highly engineered products that go underground for decades.

Over half of the plastic we purchase is recycled, made possible by our pioneering plastic-blending program, company-owned and -operated recycling facilities, and our unmatched expertise in engineering.

Whether it’s on the side of the highway, under your neighborhood grocery store’s parking lot, beneath the cornfield or right in your backyard, we’re using sustainably sourced recycled plastic in products everywhere.

How our Recycling Process Works

From curbside recycling to high-performance thermoplastic pipe, we’re extending the lifecycle of plastic.

Step 1

Curbside recycling is picked up by local trash collection.

Step 2

HDPE is baled and delivered to an ADS facility.

Step 3

Plastic is sorted and ground into flake.

Step 4

Flake material is washed for clean production.

Step 5

Flake is blended and melted into pellets.

Step 6

Pellets are extruded into pipe designed to last over 100 years.
